BARRIE, ONT.—Busch Systems, a leader in recycling and waste solutions, is hosting the next program as part of the Green Thinking Webinar Series on October 27, 2021. This free Zoom-based event will bring recycling and facilities managers together to share best practices and personal experiences on how to design and set up recycling and waste bin collection infrastructure.
Instead of a traditional presentation, this program will be exclusively organized around discussion groups. Participants will move between Zoom breakout rooms reserved for topics such as bin design features, signage, placement and involving stakeholders among others. Attendees will be prompted to share their challenges, lessons learned and resources, and network with counterparts at other institutional settings.
There’s a growing awareness about the importance of standardization and strategic planning for public-facing recycling and waste bins infrastructure. For institutional settings such as universities, hotels/resorts, corporate or government buildings, simply putting out bins in an ad hoc fashion is an invitation to low recycling participation and high contamination. The solution is to revamp the infrastructure based on best practices, but that’s not always as easy as it sounds.
Prepared by Busch Systems and Senior Advisor, Alec Cooley, attendees will be provided best practice resources and discussion points in advance to encourage information exchange during the program.
“It’s important to learn best practices from experts, but there’s also value to hearing how one’s peers have addressed common issues at their facilities. There’s a wealth of experience designing and managing waste collection bin networks, and this will be a chance for operations managers and planners to share their situations and crowdsource solutions to improve waste collection infrastructure,” explains Cooley.
