BALDWIN PARK, CALIF.—Blue Ridge Hotel Textiles announces CiCLO Biodegradable Materials as its core hotel textiles down alternative fiber. Over 60 percent of today’s textiles are made with synthetic fibers; from pillows and comforters to clothing and carpets, and more. These synthetic fibers, including polyester and nylon, are composed of plastics which, when released into the environment, can remain indefinitely because they are not inherently biodegradable. CiCLO represents a groundbreaking advancement in sustainable materials, serving as the inaugural and exclusive substance capable of significantly enhancing the biodegradability of polyester and nylon—the foundational elements of hospitality essentials such as blankets, pillows, sheets, and towels. By integrating CiCLO into the composition of these items, the biodegradability time is astonishingly diminished from over 400 years to a mere 2 to 4 years, akin to the natural decomposition rate of wool. This innovation is particularly crucial in mitigating the environmental impact of synthetic textiles.

Tim Keegan, Senior Vice President at Blue Ridge Hotel Textiles, states, “CiCLO is designed to effectively break down in various biodegradable settings, including landfills, natural soil and sea water, offering a versatile solution for a wide range of disposal environments. In essence, CiCLO not only transforms the longevity of synthetic materials but also contributes significantly to the overall sustainability of the textile industry.”

Blue Ridge Hotel is one of the world’s leading developers of sustainable, innovative and environmentally conscious bedding to hoteliers, including down and feather products and down alternatives.
