LAS VEGAS—Inspired by design trends seen at European markets, Amtico introduces the Back to Black collection of saturated, abstract floor tiles that bring a striking twist to commercial interiors. The collection features rich undertones and is finished with a subtle pearlescent sheen that creates a lacquered appearance.

Four products comprise the Back to Black range: Vamp, a dark, deep and mysterious shade of black; Desire, a rich, bitter dark chocolate brown; Envy, enigmatic dark olive tones; and Poison, a rich shade of aubergine.

When the floors in the Back to Black collection are combined with opulently styled furniture and accessories the result is a striking twist on period environments. In commercial use, the baroque feel can be obtained by incorporating large-scale chandeliers, guilt mirrors and decorative feature wall coverings. The dramatic floor with old world accessories evolves the period style into a contemporary environment.

“Our Amtico design team first spotted resurgence in the use of lacquered wood at the Milan Furniture fair and we have seen the use of this material grow in the U.S. and around Europe,” said Debbie Munden, global creative manager, Amtico International. “Our interpretation of the trend in the Back to Black collection incorporates undertones in the dark material, adding depth. The finished product creates a stylish and dramatic backdrop in commercial environments.”

The Back to Black designs are available in planks or square tiles. Each piece contains a unique linear grain that can be cut into different shapes and sizes to enhance the finish. When laid in various pattern directions and combinations, the floors can take on a minimal or exotic feel.
