AUSTIN, TEXAS—Alen Corp. announced the release of AirMD, an air purifier that is completely lead free, ozone safe, and Energy Star qualified by both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. The four-speed AirMD marries modern décor-enhancing design with a HEPA filtration system, UV lamp set to last three to five years, ionizer, and 24-hour programmable timer. Eco-conscious individuals suffering from the agony of cigarette smoke, pet dander, allergies, cooking odors, dust, pollen, dust, and bacteria now have a powerful yet compact air cleaning solution.

“We are delighted to be offering the first lead-free air purifier in the U.S. that is Energy Star qualified,” said Peter Mann, CEO of Alen Corp. “Lead is a highly toxic metal that makes children, adults and pets extremely sick—and a recent study even links early exposure to lead to Alzheimer’s disease. Alen Corporation seeks to change this fact and set the new standard in air purification. In addition, Energy Star rated products—such as our new AirMD—can save families and businesses about a third on their energy bill with similar savings of greenhouse gas emissions, without sacrificing features, style or comfort.”

The AirMD weighs 17 pounds and has a power consumption of 55 watts. It features a bold new look of a translucent outer core with two color choices for the inner core—bamboo green or white. It is best used in areas up to 400 square feet. It will be available in July 2008.
