AHLA Food & Beverage, Responsible Stay Summits Set for March 3 to 4

TYSONS CORNER, VA.—The AHLA Food & Beverage Summit will take place on Tuesday, March 3 and will be followed on March 4 by the crossover AHLA Food & Beverage Summit and AHLA Responsible Stay Summit. All events will be held at the Hilton McClean Tysons Corner, Va.* Click here for more information.

The AHLA Food & Beverage Summit will cover the following topics: “Trendologist: Food & Beverage—What’s Shaping the Menu?”, “What’s Pouring Next? Beverage Trends to Watch,” “Sip Smarter: Understanding the THC Beverage Landscape,” “Navigating the Future of Beverages,” “Beyond the Menu: Innovation Shaping Hospitality F&B,” and “From Tech to Table: Growing Food & Beverage Sales Using AI.”

The AHLA Food & Beverage Summit will wrap up with a “Savor, Save, Sustain Reception” presented by Hilton and focused on networking, highlighting sustainable practices, and forward-thinking F&B.

Day Two Crossover Summit Schedule

The crossover summit on day two will flow with the following schedule:

“The Recipe for a Sustainable Culture” with Dee Ann Turner of Dee Ann Turner & Associates, LLC and former Vice President, Talent & Vice President, Sustainability for Chick-fil-A, Inc.

“Driving Collaboration Through F&B and Sustainability Innovation & Profitability.” Panelists will include David Abraham Vice President of Engineering, Park Hotels; Jean Garris Hand, Vice President Global Sustainability, Hilton; and Peter Zampaglione Vice President of Culinary for the Americas, Hilton.

“Smart Kitchens, Zero Waste Thinking.” Ken Taylor, Senior Vice President, MarkeTeam Inc. will moderate this session that includes Pete Pearson Vice President Food – Food Loss and Waste, WWF; Megan Gill, Executive Chef, Hotel Marcel; and Ignacio Ramirez, Managing Director, Americas, Winnow.

“From Plate to Planet: Building a Responsible Sourcing Strategy for F&B” will be moderated by Amy Bourne, Director, Responsible Sourcing & Supplier Inclusion, Hilton Supply Management. Panelists will include Jordan Davis Senior Director of Strategic Sourcing & Culinary Strategy Davidson Hospitality; Christine Petersen, Senior Director, Avendra International; and Kirsten van Zandwijk, Senior Director, Customer & Commercial Sustainability The Coca‐Cola Company.

“The Art of Gathering,” a fireside chat, will by led by Cari Borja, Cultural anthropologist, salonnière, and senior advisor to Alice Waters; and Darryl C. Murphy, Arts & Culture Reporter, WAMU.

Crossover Summit closing remarks will be provided by Marianne Balfe, Vice President, Sustainability, Highgate and Co-Chair AHLA Sustainability Committee; and Greg Griffie, Senior Vice President, Food & Beverage, Davidson Hospitality and Co-Chair, AHLA Food & Beverage Committee.

Responsible Stay Summit Itinerary

The Responsible Stay Summit on day two will flow with the following schedule:

Welcome remarks and presentation of the Responsible Stay Awards.

The first session, “Driving Sustainability as a Destination,” will include presentations by David Kasprzyk, General Manager, Embassy Suites by Hilton Washington, DC Convention Center; and Melissa Riley, Senior Vice President, Convention Sales and Services, Destination DC.

“Developing the Business Case for Sustainable Hotel Development” will include conversations with Shaler Campbell, Director, Climate & Decarbonization Strategy Project and Development Services, JLL; and Angelise Slifkin, Sustainability Manager, Marriott.

“Evolution of Social Impact: Human Trafficking Survivor Support” will be led by Eliza McCoy, Vice President, Workforce Development, AHLA Foundation.

“Water Management in Practice: How Data, Partnerships, and Technology Drive Measurable Impact” will be led by Jessica Hancock, Director of Sustainability, Ecolab.

The Responsible Stay Summit will wrap up with “The Hidden Value in Waste.” Eric Ricaurte, Founder & CEO, Greenview, will moderate a discussion including Christina Grace, CEO, Foodprint Group; JT Marburger, Founder & CEO Circular Solutions; Rick Penner, Industry Relations & Co Founder Z3 Data Company; and Kristin Steiner Director of Sustainability Solutions, Republic Services.
