PHILADELPHIA—A new, completely natural pest control product for use by pest management professionals to control cockroaches, bed bugs, ants, flies and more than a dozen other pests is now available from FMC Professional Solutions, a business unit of FMC Corp.
Introduced earlier this year, Topia insecticide features a proprietary blend of natural oils with well-documented insecticidal properties. Available in a 17-oz. aerosol can, Topia is a water-based product that delivers contact control of many structural pests.
“Topia is a breakthrough insecticide product—the first completely natural, water-based insecticide from FMC,” said Chris Bowley, product manager for FMC Professional Solutions. “Pest management professionals told us their customers needed ways to get unwanted invaders out without bringing lingering pesticides in. We think that Topia delivers exactly what they were looking for.”
A 25(b) Exempt Product, Topia belongs to a special class of pesticides considered by the EPA to be “Minimum Risk.” These products are not subject to federal registration requirements because their ingredients, both active and inert, are demonstrably safe for the intended use. Many products claim to be “low impact” but few are classified 25(b) exempt.
Topia is non-flammable and has a very mild aroma that quickly dissipates. As a water-based product, Topia can be applied neatly with very low potential for staining or corrosion. In addition, Topia works quickly, delivering rapid knockdown and control of problem pests through contact.
“There are a lot of solutions out there advertised as ‘eco-friendly,’ but Topia provides the contact control customers want without leaving residues behind,” added Bowley.
