NEW YORK—In keeping with the brand mission of always giving back, 1 Hotels has expanded its 1 Less Thing program into a year-long initiative. Previously a holiday-focused program, 1 Less Thing collects gently used clothing from guests at 1 Hotels properties across the United States and Canada for donation. Each property has hand-selected a local recipient charity. 1 Hotels has also partnered with Just Be Woodsy, a Toronto-based woodworking studio with exclusive rights to collecting and reclaiming the city’s fallen trees, to create repurposed wooden slabs with engraved messaging letting guests know to place articles of clothing they would like to donate on any surface in the room with the wooden slab on top. Local charities include:

1 Hotel Central Park & 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge

Housing Works: A New York City-based no-profit fighting AIDS and homelessness. The charity is well known for its entrepreneurial businesses including a chain of thrift shops, which supports efforts to end AIDS and homelessness where they are based. They are also known for their social justice activism.

1 Hotel South Beach

Miami Rescue Mission: Helping men, women, and children with meals, safe shelter, life-changing residential programs, employment, and housing resulting in transformed lives.

1 Hotel West Hollywood

LA Mission: Los Angeles Mission provides meals and hope to Families On Skid Row. They distribute clothing to friends and neighbors in need as well as students participating in numerous recovery programs.

1 Hotel Toronto

Suits Me Fine: Suits Me Fine (SMF) is a clothing boutique open to all CAMH clients. People in the community, CAMH staff and local businesses have generously donated new and gently used clothing to CAMH, and these clothes are made available to clients free of charge. The store offers a wide range of wardrobe choices, from essentials such as socks and undergarments to casual wear and formal attire including suits, dresses, and accessories.

WHEN: Launching February 2022

WHY: “1 Less Thing has been an overwhelming success and this expansion is the natural next step for the program. We are thrilled to be able to support the great work of all our local charity partners,” said Raul Leal, CEO SH Hotels & Resorts.
