Wyndham Rolls Out New Eco-friendly Beverage Menu

PARSIPPANY, N.J.—Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, LLC announced the introduction of a new eco-friendly beverage menu available beginning this month at North American and Caribbean properties across the brand’s portfolio. Properties also will be able to customize the menu to include local and regional selections and offer promotions that allow customers to contribute to the environment.

Created with the environment in mind, the eco-friendly beverage menu is produced with natural and recycled materials, including post-consumer recycled materials that are carbon neutral, Green-e certified and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified, which identifies products that provide an assurance of social and environmental responsibility on the part of the producer. FSC certification also ensures that forest products come from forests that are managed to the high standards covering social, environmental and economic issues.

The menu, designed with the help of MarkeTeam Inc., a leading sales promotion marketing agency serving the food and beverage industry, features a variety of fresh, new cocktails as well as a varied selection of high-quality organic wines, cocktails and spirits. In areas where organic breweries are located, hotels will also offer organic beers. Additionally, every page within the menu includes an “Eco Tip” to help enlighten and educate guests about the environment. For example, did you know it takes one 15- to 20-year-old tree to make enough paper for only 700 grocery bags?

Natural Evolution of Core Values

“We are dedicated to integrating green initiatives throughout the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand portfolio and to maintaining our leadership role in the hospitality industry,” said Fernando Salazar, vice president of food and beverage at Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. “We have always been passionate about supporting the environment, preferring foods that are organic or embrace sustainable practices—extending that philosophy to the Wyndham spirits, beer and wine program, and subsequently its menu, was a natural evolution of this core value.”

As part of the brand’s “Ecology Mixology—Have a Drink, Plant a Tree” initiative, every menu will feature Wyndham’s new TRU Blue Signature Organic Cocktail, a special martini made with TRU organic vodka, FRUIT LAB organic orange liqueur, fresh lemon juice and naturally blue-tinted simple syrup. For every organic cocktail ordered, GreenBar Collective, the artisan makers of TRU vodka, FRUIT LAB liqueurs and CRUSOE rums, will plant a tree on behalf of Wyndham Hotels and Resorts in rain forests throughout Central America to help restore the planet’s forests. In addition to the TRU Blue Signature Organic cocktail, individual properties will also offer additional cocktails inspired by the cities and towns in which they are located.

In concert with the introduction of the eco-friendly beverage menu, MarkeTeam is also assisting with the launch of B.PRO for Wyndham, a proprietary food and beverage Intranet site that allows individual locations to order the new menu and customize it to the specific property.

Wyndham properties already apply many ecologically-friendly initiatives like utilizing compact fluorescent lighting, low flow water practices, the EarthSmart guest linen re-use program, sustainable uniforms for hotel staff made from recycled plastic beverage bottles and allergen-friendly guestrooms aimed at improving air quality through its Wyndham ClearAir initiative by Pure Solutions. These efforts support parent company Wyndham Worldwide’s sustainability program, Wyndham Green, which focuses on social responsibility and the environment as a part of the company’s overall green strategy.
