DES PLAINES, ILL.—Hospitality bedding manufacturer United Feather & Down has teamed up with eco-friendly home fashions brand Portico to introduce the Portico Hospitality bed and bath collection, a line of products offering a combination of comfort and sustainability.

Portico’s basic bedding collection for hospitality will be launching at HD Expo in Las Vegas from May 19 to 21. The bedding collection features 100 percent GOTS-certified organic cotton fabrics paired with hypoallergenic Lyocell Down, United Feather & Down’s patented blend of Freshness Assured down and lyocell fibers, or the down alternative Naturelle, a down-alternative made from recycled materials and lyocell fibers. The unique blending of down or down-alternative and all-natural lyocell fibers in a filling material offer advanced moisture wicking and natural cooling properties resulting in a drier, more comfortable sleep environment.

Produced from sustainable Eucalyptus farms with low environmental impact, lyocell fibers have also been proven to reduce the growth of bacteria and dust mites without chemical additives.

Portico’s bed linens, towels, robes and rugs are all made from 100 percent GOTS certified organic cotton with no pesticides, herbicides, or harmful dyes, making Portico linens soft on the skin and gentler on the earth.

Style Not Sacrificed

“With Portico’s signature look and commitment to sustainable practices, this new bedding collection is perfect for those hotels making an effort to be environmentally conscious but not wanting to sacrifice style in the process,” said Stephen Palmer, United Feather & Down co-president.

The Portico Hospitality collection, featuring side, back and stomach pillows, a traditional bed pillow, comforter and mattress pad, will be on display at United Feather & Down booth number 5740 at HD Expo.

Noted author and green living expert Summer Rayne Oakes has consulted on the new line and serves as the Portico brand ambassador.

“The idea of using sustainable, eco-friendly products is much more on the public’s consciousness than it was several years ago, as people see tangible effects from living green—and it will carry over to the hospitality segment as more and more guests choose hotels based on green practices,” said Gregg Haft, Portico president. “This new line of bedding is comfortable and environmentally-friendly, which hotels and their guests can feel good about.”
