CHICAGO—Tornado Industries has introduced a new, advanced HEPA-filtered upright vacuum cleaner with several features normally found on much more expensive “business class” machines. The new CK 14/1 QD model is a 14-inch-wide machine made of durable polypropylene and metal materials. It features a double ball bearing motor for greater dependability and a Quick Draw (“QD”) system that allows fast, simple access to a variety of on-board tools and attachments.

The new machine is specifically designed to clean health-care facilities, schools, hotels, commercial buildings and light industrial locations.

“On top of all its features, we are especially pleased that this is an environmentally responsible vacuum cleaner,” says Jolynn Kennedy, marketing manager at Tornado. “The HEPA filter is just the beginning of a three-stage high-filtration system that helps protect health and indoor air quality.”

Kennedy says the machine is designed to work with Tornado’s popular CleanBreeze disposable filter bags. These bags feature a high-tech design that uses spun polymer fibers. “They capture far more particles and allergens than conventional filter bags,” she adds. “In our tests, dust emissions are reduced up to 60 percent over traditional paper filter bags.”

Additional features of the CK 14/1 QD include:

• An extra-wide, non-marking, injection-molded rubber bumper to improve worker productivity while protecting surrounding walls and furniture;
• A 12-inch, all-metal brush roll with natural bristles;
• A 40-foot, three-wire commercial cord with thermal protection; and
• An automatic, self-adjusting nozzle that adjusts to different carpet heights.

The CK 14/1 QD has earned the approval of the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI). The CRI Green Label certification program evaluates vacuum cleaners for performance, carpet appearance and the machine’s impact on the environment. “The CK 14/1 QD passed with flying colors,” notes Kennedy.
