ANNAPOLIS, MD.— In an industry that provides staff to meet every possible customer need, Thayer Lodging Group, a privately held real estate investment company with a portfolio of 14 hotels and over 2,800 guest rooms, has created a job position to focus solely on the health and well-being of all their hotel guests. Thayer Lodging Group recently promoted Haley Payne, a hotel executive with more than 10 years experience in the hospitality industry, to its new director of wellness.

“Our goal is to give the customer a feeling of security and well-being just as if they were at home,” Payne says.

As director of wellness, Payne will focus on developing innovative wellness ideas such as healthy menus, spa packages, as well as environmentally safe products at each hotel. Since beginning her new position, Payne has implemented allergy-friendly guest accommodations at 10 hotels and 99.9 percent allergen-free meeting facilities at four Executive Meeting Centers and Conference Centers. Thanks to her efforts, Thayer Lodging Group is now a market leader in PURE Allergy Friendly guest and conference rooms.

“With the spotlight on personal wellness these days, we believe we are providing an option to travelers that they are looking for and have been unable to find,” Payne says.

Previously, Payne was general manager of multiple hotels throughout Florida, representing brands such as Residence Inn by Marriott, Hampton Inn, and Fairfield Inn & Suites. Joining Thayer Lodging Group in 2004, Payne was general manager of Fairfield Inn, Ft. Lauderdale, and eventually became sales manager of the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center in Georgia.

“With operations and sales experience, Haley is the ideal person to champion our wellness program,” says Tom Kammerer, managing director at Thayer Lodging Group.
