SOLON, OHIO—Tarkett, a world leader in innovative and sustainable flooring and sports surface solutions, released its 2025 Sustainability Statement, audited by independent third parties and published in full compliance with the EU CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) legislation.

“The impacts of climate change are becoming increasingly visible,” said Fabrice Barthélemy, CEO of Tarkett. “The urgency to act is clear. Over the past six years, we have reduced our greenhouse gas emissions across our entire value chain by 27 percent and doubled the average proportion of recycled materials used in our products, rising from 10 percent in 2018 to 20 percent in 2025. This is not enough. We are actively working with our clients and suppliers to lead our industry in pursuing this journey.”

Examples of Progress

During the past year, Tarkett made major progress on its sustainability roadmap:

  • 43 percent of the company’s energy consumption comes from renewable sources, and 16 plants purchase 100 percent renewable electricity, including Chagrin Falls and Middlefield (Ohio) and Dalton Smith and Calhoun (Georgia). Dalton Smith and Calhoun achieved 100 percent renewable electricity coverage for the first time in 2025 through the purchase of RECs (renewable energy certificates).
  • 160,000 tons of recycled materials were used in production in 2025, representing 20 percent of recycled raw materials. The goal is to reach 30 percenty by 2030. Across its carpet manufacturing sites in North America, Tarkett has begun using low-carbon nylon with 100 percent recycled content for the Dynex SD fibers of its commercial carpet products: Powerbond hybrid carpet, ethos carpet tile and Flex-Aire cushion carpet tile. This solution will lead to an increase of over 4,000 tons per year in recycled raw materials and a reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of 19 ktCO2e per year.
  • Coupled with the procurement of 100 percent renewable electricity at its carpet plants in Dalton and Calhoun, this will ultimately lead to lowering the carbon footprint of Tarkett commercial carpet products manufactured in North America by about 50 percent, as demonstrated by the products’ specific Environmental Product Declarations.
  • Tarkett’s energy efficiency efforts span dozens of initiatives, including a heat recovery process from the chilling system at its Farnham (Quebec) site, which reduces GHG emissions by 1,900 tCO2e per year.
  • Tarkett’s ReStart take-back and recycling program is now deployed in 29 countries across five continents. Over the past 16 years, 129,000 tons of end-of-life flooring has been collected across eight flooring recycling centers.
  • In 2025, Tarkett North America implemented an improved in-house, circular recycling process for its ethos carpet tiles, which optimizes the potential reuse of the product layers, including the PVB backing materials being used to make new ethos backing.
  • Committed to diversity and inclusion, the share of women in management positions reached 29 percent, progressing toward the global goal of 33 percent by 2030.

Collected Vinyl Products Recycled

Tarkett also continues to bolster its ongoing ReStart partnerships—valuable assets in the company’s commitment to circularity. For example, a years-long partnership with a company based in Dalton, Ga., has enabled Tarkett to recycle its collected vinyl products, including LVT and homogeneous and heterogeneous vinyl sheet, into new automotive mats.

“In North America, ReStart continues to expand as a core part of how we serve customers and build circularity into our business,” said Winn Everhart, President and CEO of Tarkett North America. “Strong customer engagement, strengthened logistics, and innovation in our partnerships and recycling pathways have driven meaningful growth in recent years and position us for continued long-term progress.”
