Starwood Employees Lend a Hand to Rebuild the Big Easy’s City Park

NEW ORLEANS—As part of Operation CPR (City Park Restoration), more than 900 volunteers from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. have restored historic Popp’s Fountain and the surrounding landscape in New Orleans City Park.

Popp’s Fountain was a major revenue generator for City Park pre-Katrina; the reopening of this venue is integral to the future financial viability of City Park. Following Hurricane Katrina the staff of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide expressed a strong desire to assist New Orleans in its recovery efforts. The company developed Operation CPR to aid the city in recovery.

For this project The Sheraton New Orleans Hotel partnered with the following organizations: AmSan; Budweiser/Southern Eagle Distributors; Citadel Broadcasting (DIVA, Martini, Rock’n Country); Frischhertz Services; Horticulturist Dan Gill; Hospital Corporation of America; Hotard; Industrial Mechanical; Jackie’s Jambalaya, Inc.; Pepsi Americas; The Plant Gallery; Plfueger Electric Co. Inc.; Precision Construction; PSAV; The Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group; Sexauer; Shamrock Management LLC; Sherwin Williams; Signature Events; and U.S. Foods.
