
LAAMU ATOLL, MALDIVES—Six Senses Laamu announced the appointment of Laura Jones as Director of Sustainability and Conservation, leading the resort’s sustainability strategy and overseeing the impact of the Maldives Underwater Initiative (MUI).
With a background spanning marine ecosystem research, ESG strategy, and community engagement across nonprofit, corporate, and academic sectors, Jones brings a science-driven and community-centered approach to regenerative hospitality. Her experience advancing sustainability initiatives in tropical coastal environments positions her strongly to guide Six Senses Laamu’s long-term conservation vision.

Will Collaborate with Scientific Advisors & NGO Partners
In her role, Jones will lead a multidisciplinary team of more than 10 hosts across sustainability operations, marine research, and community engagement. She will collaborate with scientific advisors and NGO partners including Manta Trust, Blue Marine Foundation, and Olive Ridley Project to support evidence-based conservation and ecosystem restoration in Laamu Atoll.
Her background includes leading greenhouse gas inventories aligned with the GHG Protocol, producing ESG reports under GRI, SASB, and TCFD frameworks, and advising on science-based climate targets and regenerative business models. With academic training in marine biology, ecology, and sustainability management, she has contributed to coral reef research and cross-sector sustainability strategy.
At Six Senses Laamu, Jones will oversee the resort’s Sustainability Action Plan, manage the Sustainability Fund with transparency and measurable outcomes, coordinate ESG reporting and certifications, and advance initiatives in waste management, renewable energy, responsible sourcing, and supplier engagement. She will also deepen conservation within the guest journey by expanding Earth Lab programming, supporting global environmental initiatives, and strengthening the Sea Hub of Environmental Learning (SHELL) in Laamu, a state-of-the-art marine education and conservation center that offers immersive experiences, research facilities, and interactive programs for guests and local communities alike.
Through this appointment, Six Senses Laamu reinforces its leadership in sustainable tourism and its commitment to marine conservation, community partnership, and regenerative impact in the Maldives.
