BOCAS DEL TORO, PANAMA—Kimberly DeLape, whose passion is bettering mankind through environmental preservation, children, and the arts, announced that a portion of the proceeds from sales of a new Caribbean sustainable luxury resort community, Emerald Monkey, will be donated to UNICEF. The announcement was made as native workers on the resort’s island, Isla Pastor, Bocas Del Toro, worked in preparation for the new eco-luxe villas, signaling the emergence of an idyllic five-star community that will complement and sustain itself from its environment.

“As we strive toward our goal of creating the first-ever ‘carbon neutral footprint’ luxury resort community and to protect this beautiful environment, we recognize that our efforts must also include bettering the life of the wonderful people who live and work here,” DeLape said. “Having earmarked the Bocas Del Toro region to have 16,500 children immunized through UNICEF is just the beginning of these efforts. We plan on extending our commitment to our philanthropic efforts to the local villages by drilling water wells and educating the indigenous Indians to plant and grow their own fruits and vegetables to nourish their families as well as learn to commercialize their crops for income.”

Situated on more than 80 acres of lush volcanic land, phase one includes 76 handcrafted Balinese villas with expansive spaces that blend the outdoors with luxurious and contemporary indoor living. Filled with five-star amenities, the villas are enhanced by flora and steady breezes of the Caribbean. Within walking distance are two saltwater pools, a world class anti-aging rejuvenation spa, beaches, coral reef diving, trails, family centers, and even a meditation temple for capturing the sunrise and sunset.

With inspiration for harmonious living with the environment inspired by the Balinese, Emerald Monkey will be powered by hydro-electricity and is projected to open in the fourth quarter of 2010. With sales efforts already underway, DeLape’s official announcement benefitting UNICEF confirms her company’s commitment to an organization she is already actively supporting. As CEO and co-founder of Emerald Monkey and Island Living Resorts, she says the commitment to UNICEF is just one of many ways the development can directly promote the charity’s efforts in that region, while continuing to support its efforts globally.
