Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to Keynote October Sustainability Conference, Expo

DALLAS—Plans are quickly coming together for the Lodging Green + Sustainability Conference + Expo being planned by Lodging Magazine in collaboration with EcoGreenHotel. The October 1 to 3 event will be held at the LEED Gold certified Omni Dallas Hotel. The three-day event will feature a tour of the Omni Dallas Hotel and a keynote address by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Kennedy is a professor of environmental law at Pace University School of Law and serves as co-director of the school’s Environmental Litigation Clinic. He also serves as senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, chief prosecuting attorney for Riverkeeper and president-at-large of the Waterkeeper Alliance. The title of Kennedy’s presentation: “A Worldview of Sustainability.”

While Kennedy’s speech will highlight the first day of the event, the second and third days will be filled with educational and networking opportunities and opportunities to visit with green suppliers. Session tracks will be geared toward: owners and investors; general managers, executive housekeepers, and other managers; and those in facilities management and engineering.

Some of the topics covered during general sessions and panels will include: “Marketing Sustainable Properties to Guests,” “Sustainable Supply Management,” “Maintaining Sustainable Practices,” “Transformative Energy Management Technologies,” and “Water Reclamation and Conservation.” A complete schedule of events can be seen on the conference website.

Kennedy, Jr. at the conference include: Scott Parisi, president of EcoGreenHotel; Dan Ruben, executive director, Boston Green Tourism; Dina Belon-Sayre, Sustainability and Energy Specialist, The Peabody Orlando; Larry Magor, managing director, Omni Dallas Hotel; Ray Burger, president and founder of Pineapple Hospitality; Joanna Abrams, founder and CEO of MindClick Global; Glenn Hasek, publisher and editor, Green Lodging News; and Karena Albers and Jenifer Willig, co-founders of Whole World Water.
