ALPHARETTA, GA.—The Refinishing Touch, a provider of on-site environmentally safe and sustainable furniture asset management services, has honored 29 businesses with Sustainability Awards. The awards recognize eco-conscious companies within the hospitality industry that have successfully implemented furniture asset management services to reduce their carbon footprints.

To qualify for the awards, hotels and resorts must demonstrate a commitment to implementing environmentally-friendly practices, particularly furniture asset management tactics including refinishing, remanufacturing, and reupholstering that reduce their carbon footprint and minimize landfill waste. The program, spearheaded by business environmentalist and The Refinishing Touch president and CEO Mario Insenga, is also designed to inspire other organizations to consider their own environmental impact and incorporate sustainability into everyday actions.

This quarter’s award winners include: Best Western Hotel, Blackwell, Okla.; Candlewood Suites, Huntersville, N.C.; Church of Scientology of Los Gatos, Calif.; Country Inn and Suites, Calabasas, Calif.; The Courtyard by Marriot Hotel, Houston; Days Inn Hotel, Horsham, Pa.; DoubleTree by Hilton, in Anaheim and Roswell, Calif.; The Embassy Suites Convention Center, Washington, D.C.; Fairmont Hotel, Sonoma, Calif.; Hampton Inn locales in Batesville, Ind., Owensboro, Ky., Jacksonville, Fla., Abingdon, Va. and West Palm Beach, Fla.; Hilton brand hotels, in Grand Forks, N.D., Long Island, N.Y., Novi, Mich., and Edinburgh, N.Y.; Holiday Inn brands, in Santa Clarita, Calif. and Kentwood, Mich.; Homewood Suites by Hilton, Tallahassee, Fla.; Hospitality Purchasing Consultants, Littleton, Colo.; Hotel Monaco, Washington, D.C.; La Quinta Inn, Tampa, Fla.; Lake Shore Lodge, Estes Park, Colo.; Maison St. Charles Quality Inn and Suites, New Orleans; Molly Pitcher Inn, Red Bank, N.J.; and Staybridge Suites, Corning, N.Y.

“Now more than ever, the hospitality industry is making sustainability a core priority by seeking eco-friendly alternatives, including The Refinishing Touch’s furniture asset management services,” Mario Insega said. “As a business dedicated to reducing a renovation project’s carbon footprint and minimizing landfill waste, we want to reward other organizations that strive to do the same while also encouraging others to follow in the award-winning footsteps of their peers.”

The Refinishing Touch has reduced its clients’ carbon emissions by nearly 90 percent, resulting in a three-million-ton total reduction in emissions, and has prevented the deforestation of an estimated nine million trees.
