HONOLULU, HAWAII—The award-winning Prince Waikiki, a 563-room oceanfront hotel with floor-to-ceiling ocean views in every guestroom located at the gateway of Honolulu’s vibrant Waikiki neighborhood, continues its streak of world-class hospitality with the prestigious AAA Four-Diamond designation, one of just 12 hotels on the Island of O’ahu to achieve the status. In addition to this accolade for meeting the highest standards of service, cleanliness, and hospitality, Prince Waikiki is one of just 14 businesses in Hawaii to receive the 2022 Hawaii Green Business Award as recognition for its commitment to sustainability, conservation, and clean energy.

“We are honored to be recognized for not only our commitment to world-class standards with the AAA Four-Diamond status, but also for our goal of positively impacting the environment with clean energy standards at Prince Waikiki,” said Joshua Hargrove, General Manager at Prince Waikiki. “Sustainability and exceptional hospitality are increasingly important, both as a company striving to challenge ourselves to minimize our carbon footprint but also for our guests, who seek heartfelt hospitality when choosing their destination. We look forward to carrying on the Prince Promise of innovative safety, sustainability, and service.”

The AAA Diamond rating system provides a detailed look at a property’s quality, cleanliness, and condition. Evaluated by trained experts who evaluate the overall guest experience, Prince Waikiki achieved the “Four Diamond” status for criteria including upscale style and amenities with the right touch of service, cleanliness, safety, and more. Scoring 100 percent on cleanliness, Prince Waikiki further solidifies itself as a safe destination for those visiting Waikiki, with wide-open spaces away from the crowds of the main beach corridor, some of the best sunset views on the coastline, and best-in-class dining.

Examples of Commitment to Sustainability

In addition to offering a number of high-value stay opportunities for AAA Members and Prince Preferred Members—who receive exclusive rates, waived resort charges, room upgrades, and more, Prince Waikiki has also implemented the following practices and guest experiences to reiterate its commitment to sustainability and improving the Waikiki coastline:

Malama Hawaii Package: Prince Waikiki is one of the first hotels and resorts in O’ahu to partner with Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii and Hawai’i Tourism Authority’s Malama Hawai’i campaign. With Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii—a local, grassroots nonprofit organization inspiring communities to care for their coastlines through hands-on beach cleanups—Prince Waikiki offers guests the opportunity to help preserve the scenic beauty and coastlines in Waikiki. In exchange for participating in a DIY beach clean-up in partnership with Sustainable Coastlines of Hawaii, Prince Waikiki guests booking the Malama Hawaii Package will receive every fourth night free and a commemorative sustainable gift. Prince Preferred members will also receive waived resort charges and an additional 5 percent off.

Urban, Sustainable Dining: Guests at Prince Waikiki’s signature restaurant 100 Sails Restaurant & Bar will enjoy an array of local fish and produce, in addition to salads, citrus, and herbs grown in Prince Waikiki’s rooftop urban aquaponics garden. The closed-loop agricultural system produces crisp lettuces, herbs, and more, in support of the hotel’s mission to use local and high-quality ingredients wherever possible.

  1. Hello
How do I locate hotels and resorts that use fragrance free laundering methods. My family is highly allergic to fragrances in laundry products and dryer sheets.
    Thank you

    • Unfortunately, there is no online guide that focuses on such a specific green lodging angle. I do get a lot of requests for this.
