RIVIERA PACIFICA, PANAMA—The Buenaventura Golf & Beach Resort, a top luxury family-friendly resort in Riviera Pacifica’s beach community, has launched new sustainable initiatives to help eco-conscious travelers make the most of their trip while creating less of an impact on the environment.

Home to nature trails, an animal conservation center, and a Nicklaus-designed 18-hole championship golf course, the outdoors are at the forefront of guest experience at The Buenaventura Golf & Beach Resort. Conscious of its operational impacts to its surroundings, The Buenaventura has launched the following sustainable initiatives:

  • Carbon neutral flight partnerships. Partnering with Green Cloud, The Buenaventura now allows guests the opportunity to offset their increased carbon footprint from their air travel and lodging in the hotel. By entering their flight and accommodation details online at neutralflight.com, the service calculates the expended flight emissions and carbon footprint of the guest’s accommodations to devise the financial cost it would take to offset those emissions. Users get to choose which project they wish to allocate their compensation to, which typically aids in reforestation.
  • Responsible fishing and consumption. Cuisine is an important element to The Buenaventura guest experience. The chef-driven restaurants offer an eclectic mix of dining options that all focus on farm fresh integrations and serving only fresh caught fish. The resort’s culinary team haspartnered with MarViva, a foundation that analyzes the species, the form of capture or production and the geographical area, to define the fish with less environmental and social impact and create more responsible menus.
  • Electric car chargers to refuel battery-powered vehicles. To promote the benefits of driving emission-free electric cars, the resort has installed rapid EverGo electric car charger stations on its property. Electric car drivers need not worry about running out of battery when exploring the beachside Buenaventura neighborhood, as they can now recharge in as little as 45 minutes at the hotel or Buenaventura Golf Course.

Protecting the environment by switching to greener alternatives on property comes as second nature to The Buenaventura. This year, the resort recycled more than 1,200 lbs. of electronic waste and was recognized by local recycling organization, Renueva Panama, with a symbolic certificate last month.
