MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA—Palladium Hotel Group has announced the expansion of Grand Palladium Hotels & Resorts in Jamaica, a project promoted by Grupo Empresas Matutes. This transformative development will add more than 948 new rooms and is expected to create around 1,500 direct jobs in the destination, along with 2,600 to 5,700 indirect job opportunities. The expansion will further strengthen the brand’s presence in Jamaica, introducing the TRS Hotels adults-only luxury all-inclusive brand and the Family Selection concept at Grand Palladium Hotels & Resorts.

Details of the expansion project were revealed during a groundbreaking ceremony on February 18. The event was attended by Prime Minister Dr. The Most Honorable Andrew Holness, several government ministers, Spanish Ambassador H.E. José María Fernández López, tourism and private sector stakeholders, as well as Abel Matutes, Vice-President of Grupo Empresas Matutes and President of Palladium Hotel Group.

“Jamaica holds a special place in Palladium Hotel Group’s global portfolio, and we are confident in the island’s continued tourism potential,” said Abel Matutes, Vice-President of Grupo Empresas Matutes and President of Palladium Hotel Group. “This development highlights our commitment to supporting Jamaica’s economic growth, creating sustainable employment opportunities, and further enhancing the island’s appeal as a premier tourist destination.”

Far-Reaching Economic Benefits

The expansion represents a significant investment in Jamaica’s tourism sector, with far-reaching economic benefits. In addition to the thousands of employment opportunities created during the construction phase, the expansion of Grand Palladium Hotels & Resorts will generate 1,500 direct jobs once operational, along with a further 2,000 indirect jobs across related industries such as transportation, agriculture, and local services. The project also prioritizes sustainability, incorporating energy-efficient designs, including architectural strategies to reduce heat, a Building Management System to optimize lighting and ventilation, and the use of renewable energy from photovoltaic panels and a hybrid trigeneration plant. Water conservation measures include low-flow fixtures, an intelligent water management system, a seawater desalination plant, and the use of treated wastewater for irrigation.

Palladium Hotel Group has been a key player in Jamaica’s hospitality sector since the opening of the Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa and the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa in 2008. Located in Lucea, Hanover, these flagship properties have set the standard for all-inclusive luxury in the region. The group is further strengthening its presence with a $20 million investment to upgrade the property, expand its amenities, and incorporate sustainability features. Through this new expansion, Palladium Hotel Group reaffirms its long-term commitment to Jamaica, contributing even more to the island’s tourism development and economic prosperity.

As part of its expansion in Jamaica, Palladium Hotel Group will introduce TRS Hotels, a luxury, adults-only, all-inclusive brand located in the most desirable destinations across the Caribbean and Europe. This brand offers a sophisticated and modern experience tailored for couples, newlyweds, and solo travelers. The expansion will also introduce Family Selection at Grand Palladium Hotels & Resorts, a VIP service providing families with exclusive amenities and personalized experiences. This service enhances stays with dedicated spaces and premium services, currently available in Mexico and soon to open in the Dominican Republic.
