ORLANDO, FLA.—In honor of Earth Day, the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort & Convention Center opened a butterfly garden on Tuesday, April 22, overlooking the resort’s signature lagoon pool. Twenty varieties of butterfly plants were planted by the children of guests, associates and the resort’s environmental committee, with general manager Phil Coffey on hand to monitor the release of more than 10 species of butterflies.

Recently inducted as members of the Florida Green Lodging program, the 2,000-room resort was participating in a series of earth friendly activities in honor of Environmental Awareness Week.

“Adopting effective eco-practices is a winning combination for our guests, associates, and the entire community,” stated Tim Pyne, director of sales and marketing at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort & Convention Center.
