MILL VALLEY, CALIF.—John Reed has announced the formation of Elevator Communications, LLC, a new public relations agency focused on green, sustainable and technology companies. Based in Mill Valley, just north of San Francisco, the virtual agency uses public relations professionals based around the country to provide publicity, media outreach and strategic planning for clients.
“For a wide variety of reasons, public and corporate awareness of green business practices, services and products is growing very rapidly,” Reed says. “Post-Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth movie and book, consumers are taking a closer look at who they do business with, and that company’s commitment to the environment. We’ve been working with these types of clients and the media for many years. We also enjoy the esthetic element of working with companies that are making a difference in the lives of consumers through their focus on environmentally-friendly products and services.”
Prior to forming Elevator, Reed held director-level positions at three public relations agencies over the past 10 years. Notable agency successes include the placement of 306 stories for Stirling Energy Systems, the Phoenix-based alternative energy company now building two of the world’s largest solar-thermal “farms” in Southern California for Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas & Electric.
Recent work includes national media coverage for the first green U.S. hotel to apply for LEED Gold, TV and print coverage for Bay Area and national solar energy companies, and media relations work for green products and services sold to consumers nationwide.
