NEW YORK—Continuing its steadfast commitment to sustainability and innovation, leading performance textile and faux leather manufacturer Nassimi announces the release of its second annual sustainability report. As a recognized thought leader in environmental stewardship, Nassimi has spent over two decades embedding sustainability into every aspect of its products, processes, and partnerships.
This year’s report outlines notable accomplishments, including significant strides in phasing out PFAS, and advancing Science-Based Targets (SBTs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while taking measurable steps towards net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Reflecting on Nassimi’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, social impact, and responsible governance, the report emphasizes the company’s near-term goals to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, energy and water consumption, and waste material by 25 percent by 2030.
“Sustainability is not just a goal—it’s our purpose,” said Nassimi President Edward Nassimi. “We’re proud of the progress we’ve made in reducing potentially harmful chemicals. This year’s report celebrates how far we’ve come and charts an inspiring path forward.”
From pioneering Phthalate-free faux leather in 2015 to eliminating anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, and flame-retardant chemicals in 2017, Nassimi has consistently set the standard for responsible textile manufacturing. Key initiatives include introducing SiO Silicone in 2019—a solvent and chemical-free coated medical-grade fabric—and Supreen in 2020, a PFAS-free liquid barrier performance upholstery textile as well as removing PFAS from all products starting in 2022.
In addition to highlighting sustainability milestones, the report summarizes the company’s main environmental initiatives, including its progress with reducing greenhouse gas emissions, energy and water consumption, and waste production. It also delves into sustainably-centered process, a case study on Writer’s Block Polyurethane, and efforts to expand engagement with Sustainable Development Goals.
