DULUTH, MINN.—Loll Designs, the made-in-Minnesota outdoor furniture manufacturer, keeps their “people and nature first” philosophy top of mind year-round. In 2022 Loll Designs supported numerous charitable events and organizations that share the company’s sustainability and social responsibility values.

This year Loll Designs collaborated with local taproom, Bent Paddle Brewery, to give back to Hartley Nature Center (HNC)—a local nature center dedicated to inspiring lifelong connections with nature through education, play and exploration. Bent Paddle customers were given the opportunity to participate in the brewery’s “October Round Up.” Participants rounded up the cost of their beer to the nearest dollar in support of HNC with Loll Designs matching Bent Paddle’s contribution.

On December 13, 2022, Loll Designs’ VP of Culture, Jim Marshall and two other Loll employees, Anthony Davis and Dylan Wosmek, along with Bent Paddle representative, Karen Tonnis, presented the donation at Hartley Nature Center (HNC). The donation will go directly to HNC’s Nature Access Fund—a fund created to break down financial barriers in the community by providing reduced fees and scholarship support to local schools and families wishing to participate in HNC’s programs.

Supports 1% for the Planet

For their 14th consecutive year, Loll Designs made their annual contribution to 1% for the Planet, donating 1 percent of the net sales from their best-selling Lollygagger Collection. This year’s donation went to Chester Bowl—a local ski club and part of the nonprofit organization Chester Bowl Improvement Club, whose mission is to promote sustainable, quality programs, year-round for all Chester Bowl Park users in a healthy and safe environment.” The 1% for the Planet donation will assist in renovating and improving the Thom Storm Chalet as part of the Growing Up Chester Campaign. Once completed, the Thom Storm Chalet will provide additional programming opportunities as well as community accessibility.

It is crucial to Loll Designs employees to personally contribute to bettering the world around them and give back to their community. Since 2008, the Loll team has participated in Clean Yer Creek. Organized by Keep Duluth Clean, this initiative helps maintain the city’s waterways and ecosystems. Each year volunteers get together to collect garbage from three local creeks which feed directly into Lake Superior. The Loll team also participates in quarterly blood drives supporting Memorial Blood Center.

Beyond their annual 1% for the Planet commitment, Loll Designs created another opportunity for their customers to do good while living well with the launch of their USA Adirondack Chairs. Loll knows their customers value the opportunity to have a positive impact through their purchases; proceeds from this limited-edition collection, released to celebrate the brand’s commitment to proudly manufacturing and sourcing materials and packaging from the USA since day one, were donated to the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.
