BOULDER, COLO.—PE International, a global sustainability software and services firm, has been selected by LG Electronics USA to help manage its sustainability initiatives. Using PE International’s SoFi software, LG will measure and report on its U.S.-based sustainability metrics, supporting the company’s environmental stewardship programs and its goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its U.S. operations 50 percent by 2020 (compared with a 2008 baseline).

LG will use SoFi to monitor emissions, energy, water and waste for its offices and distribution centers across the United States. Sustainability reports will allow LG to more effectively measure success and identify opportunities for further improvement.

“Environmental sustainability is a core business principle at LG,” said Christine Ackerson, sustainability manager, LG Electronics USA. “We consider the sustainability-related impact of our business from a 360-degree perspective—from our supply chain and manufacturing processes, to energy efficient products and recycling programs. With its capability to quickly gather complex data and provide in-depth analytics, the SoFi software is expected to help LG save time and create programs to improve our sustainability performance and reduce costs.”

“By selecting SoFi to manage its sustainability programs, LG is poised to expand its environmental leadership,” said John Heckman, PE International’s North American director. “We look forward to working together with LG to help them identify opportunities across the company’s supply chain, make further reductions to their greenhouse gas emissions and align their metrics and sustainability initiatives.”
