LONDON—The International Tourism Partnership and Greenview seek hoteliers’ views and perspectives on sustainable supply chain management. Earlier this year, ITP’s supply chain working group performed a high level risk mapping exercise of the supply chain in order to inform the future direction of the group’s activities. Weighing various criteria of spend, risk, impact and the likelihood of success, it gave a strong steer to the group where the opportunities for collaboration lay.

In the next phase of its supply chain work, ITP has teamed up with Greenview to create a common framework for the hotel industry to discuss and approach the issues around hotel supply chains.

There is a significant gap in the available body of knowledge regarding mapping hotel supply chains. No commonly accepted nomenclature or framework exists upon which a sustainability lens could be placed or a Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) framework could be built—that is why hoteliers are being asked to help in developing this.

ITP and Greenview are inviting hotel managers and their purchasing department to provide some insight into their practices, issues, and awareness of supply chain issues by contributing to an online survey. The survey should take no longer than 20 minutes, in addition to reviewing and preparing the questions which can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HotelSupplyChainSurvey2013. There is no need to submit any data, and the survey results will be kept confidential.

The results will be compiled and published in an industry-wide study on sustainable supply chain management, which is being conducted in conjunction with the International Tourism Partnership Supply Chain Working Group and its members, and will provide a common framework and guidance for approaching supply chain issues.
