ROCHESTER, N.Y.—There’s an “invasion” of little pink bags occurring in female restrooms across the United States as inventor-entrepreneur Ann Germanow launches SCENSIBLES, a specially designed single-use scented bag for the hygienic disposal of feminine care products.

“The inspiration for SCENSIBLES came several years ago when I noticed signs in public restrooms that read: Do not flush tampons,” explained Germanow, co-founder and president of The Scensible Source Company, LLC. “The only option was discarding items in filthy, germ-contaminated stall waste bins which were unacceptable to me.”

SCENSIBLES bags are designed with a contemporary pink on pink floral pattern, with a delicate scent and easy tie closure. They are not only attractive on the outside but antimicrobial agents built into the bag inhibit the growth of odor causing bacteria. To be environmentally responsible, the plastic bags are manufactured with an additive to enable them to biodegrade in landfills.

SCENSIBLES are packaged for one-bag dispensing from small units attached to stall walls in public and commercial restrooms. Concealing the soiled product in a leak proof bag and tossing it in the trash eases concerns over contact with germs plus eliminates unpleasant sights and odors. SCENSIBLES provide an easy alternative to flushing items down the toilet; helping building owners and property managers circumvent expensive plumbing repairs.

“Not until a tour of my county’s wastewater treatment plant did I realize the problems caused by discarding tampons down the toilet,” Germanow said. “It’s important to change people’s attitudes and habits by encouraging disposal in the trash.”
