IHMRS Programs Cover Wide Variety of Industry Topics

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.—From mid-term elections to mobile applications, seminar topics at the 2010 International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show (IHMRS) will address key influences in today’s hospitality industry. Featured topics among the nearly 25 programs will include marketing, recruiting, sustainability, business forecasting and boutique hotels. The IHMRS will run Saturday, November 13 through Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

“Education plays a pivotal role at the IHMRS,” said Lynn White, show manager. “This year, the program lineup will help attendees prepare for the future with trend reports, state-of-the-industry presentations and timely discussions on how to attract and market to today’s customers.”

Hospitality Education

The Hospitality Leadership Forum, a full day conference for senior level hospitality managers, will be held Saturday, November 13. John Russell, IHMRS board member and CEO, NYLO Hotels, LLC will moderate the Forum’s Leadership Panel, comprised of CEOs from Buffalo Wild Wings, Inc., Carlson, Best Western International, Team San Jose and Thayer Lodging Group, as well as Boutique Design Magazine’s 2009 Designer of the Year.

A keynote luncheon presentation with Victor Fazio and Bill Paxon, former members of Congress (D-CA and R-NY, respectively) and senior advisors, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, will provide an insider’s view of the new political landscape four days after the mid-term elections.

Nancy Johnson, CHA, secretary/treasurer, American Hotel & Lodging Association and executive vice president/chief development officer, Carlson Hotels Worldwide, will moderate the U.S. Lodging Industry Summit Panel, featuring representatives from Colliers PKF Hospitality Research, D.K. Shifflet & Associates, Ltd., Lodging Econometrics, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, STR and Ypartnership, LLC.

Other Leadership Forum programs will include “The ROI of Marketing,” “Minimizing the Cost of Turnover by Maximizing Recruitment and Training Efforts,” “Excuse me, What Should I do with Mobile Devices,” “Boutique Hotel Exclusive,” “Hospitality 2015: The Future of Hospitality and Travel,” and an ISHC presentation on the state of the hospitality industry. Hospitality Leadership Forum registration, which includes the Saturday keynote luncheon and admission to exhibits, November 14 to 16, is $139 per person and available online, at www.ihmrs.com.

Additional seminars will be offered Sunday, November 14 and Monday, November 15, including “China Travelers—Are You Ready,” “The Untapped Potential of Multicultural Marketing,” “Unlocking Green Key,” “C-Level Perspectives: Women Who Make Decisions and Make it Big,” “The 2010 Mid-Term Elections and Its Impact on the Hospitality Industry,” “Customers of the Future: Adapting to Changing Consumer Attitudes and Behavior,” and “Rethinking Career Development in the New Economy.”

Seminars taking place on Sunday, November 14 and Monday, November 15, are free of charge for registered attendees of the IHMRS. Registration is $30 through October 8, and $50 after this date, and available online at www.ihmrs.com.

About 700 Exhibitors Expected

The IHMRS will run Saturday, November 13, through Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Following a full day of conference and networking activities on Saturday, November 13, the IHMRS will feature three full days of exhibits from Sunday, November 14, through Tuesday, November 16. The market presents more than 700 hospitality industry suppliers and attracts approximately 30,000 in total trade attendance.
