INCLINE VILLAGE, NEV.—Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino, the only waterfront resort in North Lake Tahoe, announces Kemp Dowdy as its outdoor and adventure specialist. Through this new role, Dowdy will work one-on-one with guests to curate and personalize their Lake Tahoe experience.

“I am thrilled to be the outdoor and adventure specialist at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe,” said Dowdy.  “Lake Tahoe is a gem of a destination, and it provides endless possibilities for getting outside and enjoying unforgettable adventures. With such a wide range of premier experiences available right outside our doors, it is my role to help our guests plan the Tahoe getaway that best fits their specific interests and preferences. Whether that means taking a kayak trip around the lake, seeking out the area’s most beautiful hiking trails or best stargazing sites, or enjoying some of the best ski conditions in the country, I am here to help guests plan a one-of-a-kind Tahoe itinerary.”

Once guests book a stay at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, they will have the option to be virtually connected with Dowdy to curate their on-site experience. Prior to arrival, guests can email tahoeadventures@hyatt.com to begin the process, or they can connect with Dowdy via telephone, Facetime, or Zoom to discuss the current events and activities taking place on site. Options range from guided bicycle tours to Sand Harbor and a guided hike to the Mount Rose Waterfall, to a dryland boot camp with exercises focusing on agility, coordination and strength designed to prepare guests for the upcoming snow sport season.

Also Serves as Director of Outlets

Originally from Reno, Nev., Dowdy grew up exploring the local area. He has extensive experience working in both the ski and hospitality industries. He has worked with several Hyatt properties throughout the country and has held roles ranging from Recreation Director at Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa to General Manager of the Bird & Bone Restaurant at Confidante Miami Beach, which is part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection. In addition to his role as outdoor and adventure specialist, Dowdy also serves as Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe’s Director of Outlets.

Dowdy’s professional ski career began in 1996 when he worked as an instructor, trainer, and coach. He is a fully certified Level 3 Instructor with PSIA and former member of the Western Technical Team and Demonstration Team. He was also a chair member of the board for Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA). He went on to work with ski and snowboard school management at Northstar California Ski Resort, Sierra at Tahoe Resort and Homewood Mountain Resort Lake Tahoe. He also taught and coached ski classes in international destinations including Falls Creek Ski & Mountain Resort in Australia and Mt. Hutt Ski & Mountain Resort in New Zealand.

As North Lake Tahoe’s only waterfront property, Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe features a 500-foot private beach, and guests have access to private boat, kayak, and paddleboard rentals directly from the resort’s pier. The property is also ideally located near several popular hiking trails including the new Tahoe East Shore Trail, a paved trail that spans three miles lining the lake.

During the winter season, visitors have easy access to 12 of the area’s ski resorts, including Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe and Northstar California Ski Resort. The property is located closest to Diamond Peak Ski resort, and provides complimentary shuttle to and from the lift every 15 minutes throughout the season. Guests can also visit the on-site Hyatt Sport Shop where they can purchase ski lift tickets and rent gear to make their ski getaway more convenient.
