TROY, OHIO—Hobart announced that the patent-pending Energy Star qualified AM Select Ventless warewasher is the Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI) Product of the Year for 2010. FCSI presented the award following a tally of votes gathered from professional consultants at its recent annual conference in Minneapolis.

FCSI is a prominent, globally recognized organization of more than 1,400 members who design foodservice installations and specify a broad range of equipment ranging from commercial ovens and storage refrigerators to dishwashers and cleaning systems. At its annual conference FCSI members vote on the most innovative products among 10 finalists selected in the foodservice industry.

“It is an honor for the AM Select Ventless warewasher to receive the FCSI Product of the Year award,” said Carrie Hoff, product line manager for Hobart warewash. “This recognition showcases Hobart’s ongoing commitment to product innovation in order to help our customers achieve their goals in terms of reduced costs, lower electricity consumption and increased food safety and productivity.”

Hobart’s patent-pending AM Select Ventless warewasher is the first ventless door-type warewasher featuring energy recovery, all within the footprint of the machine. The recovery cycle captures water vapor and condenses it to heat the incoming cold-water inlet for the final rinse cycle. Operators can save up to $792 per year in energy recovery. Additionally, the elimination of steam emissions into the kitchen reduces HVAC use, saving up to $776 per year in utility costs.

The unit also eliminates the need for a vent hood and fan installation, saving approximately $3,500 on equipment and installation costs. Previously, high-temperature door-type warewashers required a vent for the steam or water vapor emitted when the door is opened. In its first year, the new AM Select Ventless warewasher can save foodservice operations more than $5,000 in energy recovery, reduced HVAC use and the elimination of a vent hood fan installation.
