PORTLAND, ORE.—The historic Heathman Hotel in Portland, Ore., is inviting its guests to travel responsibly with their newest guest package—the “Go Green” package—in honor of Earth Day. For every guest that chooses the package, the Heathman Hotel will plant a tree in conjunction with the Portland-based Friends of Trees. The nonprofit organization inspires community stewardship of the urban forest by bringing people in the greater Portland area together to plant and care for city trees and urban natural areas.

Guests will also receive one night’s deluxe accommodation, a full continental breakfast at the award-winning Heathman Restaurant, and a bottle of Van Duzer wine, produced by one of Oregon’s eco-friendly wineries, located 60 miles south of downtown Portland.

Additionally, guests arriving in green cars, such as a Honda Civic Hybrid or Toyota Prius, or those powered by biodiesel, will receive free parking for the night. The cost of the package is $209 plus tax.

The Heathman Hotel recognizes environmental responsibility as a daily practice by recycling all paper, including newspaper, copy paper, and mail envelopes, as well as all bottles and cans. Upon request, the hotel can also implement a reduced use towel policy as well as a bed linens program that allows guests to decide if they would like their linens changed daily or every third day, to reduce the amount of water used and detergent put into the environment.
