I attended HD Expo at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas this past week. It was a busy time for the hospitality design community with approximately 600 exhibitors, more than 100 of which were new to the show. As reported in my news blog last week, there were many speakers and conference sessions, with wellness in design a hot topic.
As I walked the trade show floor, I picked up some interesting vendor news and heard some fascinating product development stories. It would be impossible to share all of what I heard but here are some highlights:
Agio Hospitality held a daily Resysta workshop with Martin de Blois, Agio’s Chief of Innovation & Design. The focus: introducing one of Agio’s most forward-thinking materials—Resysta. Made from rice husks, rock salt, and mineral oil, Resysta offers the warm look and texture of real wood—without the challenges of water absorption, cracking, or fading. Its versatility allows for curved forms, custom finishes, and design flexibility.
Room & Board/Room & Board for Business announced it has just released its 2025 Impact Report, highlighting major progress across sustainability, product innovation, employee ownership and community engagement. The company introduced Renew, its first 99 percent bio-based chair, and expanded the use of recycled, reclaimed and bio-based materials across product lines.

of applications. By using aluminum as the foundation of products, Southern Aluminum offers the most sustainable linenless furniture solutions.

Engineered for energy efficiency and high performance, the XLERATOReco uses significantly less electricity than conventional hand dryers while eliminating the need for paper towels—one of the largest sources of restroom waste in commercial facilities.

As part of its vision on sustainability, Ethnicraft launched Live Light, a furniture subscription service with a circular business model.
