TORONTO—Being a good corporate citizen is more than a policy or a program; it’s about putting ideas into action and making the world a better place, one step at a time. Now, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts offers a new, complimentary program that makes planning a green meeting or event easier than ever. Greening Meetings, now available at every one of the company’s 85 hotels and resorts around the world, is a menu of flexible options to conserve energy, reduce waste and support sustainability at events large and small. The new program is available at no additional cost.

Available options cover a wide spectrum of initiatives from food and beverage to meeting services and accommodations. Examples include paperless planning, opportunities to donate used decorations and display materials, local printing services to lower transportation impact, local and seasonal menus, reuse of guestroom linens, on-site recycling and composting, and more.

Thinking Green

Every Four Seasons property has a Green Team dedicated to developing and expanding sustainable practices at the hotel or resort. In addition to the Greening Meetings options, meeting planners are invited to work with the Green Team to arrange further initiatives. The Green Team can share innovative ideas such as:

• Oxygenating meeting spaces with live plants at Four Seasons Hotel Washington D.C., where planners can also arrange arrivals and departures for participants via hybrid vehicles.
• An excursion with Ziptrek Ecotours near Four Seasons Resort Whistler, where meeting participants learn about sustainable development while adventuring through the forest via zipline.
• Group participation in the agritourism program at Four Seasons Resort Nevis. Meeting attendees can visit Mansa’s organic farm, which supplies the resort’s kitchens, and learn about local fruit and vegetable farming as they enjoy homemade wines and juices.
• Reducing a company’s carbon footprint by holding sustainable meetings at Four Seasons Hotel Sydney. The hotel can assist clients to receive a certificate acknowledging their sustainable corporate approach to meetings, providing them with a zero carbon footprint approval.

Four Seasons is committed to Supporting Sustainability, one of the key areas of focus chronicled on its new Living Values website. The company actively engages in sustainable practices that conserve natural resources and reduce environmental impact, including the 10 Million Trees initiative launched earlier this year.
