EXETER, N.H.—Hay Creek Hotels announced that the Ethan Allen Hotel, located in Danbury, Conn., was recently certified as a Connecticut Green Lodging Facility. Presented by the Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CDEEP), Daniel C. Etsy, the award recognizes Ethan Allen’s commitment to operating in an eco-friendly manner, with particular attention paid to environmental matters.

Ethan Allen Hotel was awarded this certification based upon multiple systems that they have put in place to save on energy and water waste, paper re-use, and more. The hotel created a green committee comprised of the front office manager, as well as heads of housekeeping and maintenance. As a result, the three department heads were able to look at all of the systems in place and see where all departments could improve.

“We are honored with being recognized as one of Connecticut’s green hotels,” said Janice Perna-Nicholas, General Manager, Ethan Allen Hotel. “But we will not stop here. We continue to seek out systems that will enable us to become more efficient and effective in our attempts to conserve.”

Norman MacLeod, president of Hay Creek Hotels, commented, “We are delighted that the Ethan Allen Hotel been awarded with the Connecticut Green Lodging Hotel Certificate. As a company, we are constantly focused on ensuring all our hotels become greener and hope that this is the first of many green awards for Hay Creek Hotels.”
