EARTHDAY.ORG, together with partners worldwide, just announced the global theme for Earth Day 2026: Our Power, Our Planet. It is time to start planning your property’s activities for April 22 or for the entire Earth Week of April 19 to 25. In the past hotels, hotel companies and suppliers have organized volunteer efforts and educational opportunities for guests and staff.

One example of a company activity for Earth Day 2025: Staypineapple, the national boutique hotel brand, used Earth Day to announce its progress in sustainable practices. A major milestone in Staypineapple’s sustainability journey came in 2024 with the complete elimination of single-use plastic water bottles across all properties. This initiative, which continued through 2025, provided guests with complimentary PATH refillable water bottles and access to Quench Water Bar refill stations. In total, this effort has helped divert approximately 600,000 single-use plastic water bottles from landfills in just over a year. With options for still and sparkling water available at these stations, guests have embraced this eco-friendly upgrade, joining Staypineapple in its mission to reduce waste and promote recycling.

One example of a supplier activity for Earth Day 2025: As part of its ongoing commitment to preserve the environment and foster appreciation for the outdoors, Duluth-based Loll Designs presented a donation to Chester Bowl Improvement Club, marking a milestone $100,000 in donations over the past five years to the beloved local park through Loll’s 1% for the Planet partnership. The $100,000 total donation from Loll over five years supports Chester Bowl’s Growing Up Chester capital campaign, including the renovation of the Thom Storm Chalet. This project increases ADA accessibility and improves the building’s energy efficiency, ensuring inclusive and sustainable use for generations to come.

Making a Big Difference

Since the first Earth Day in 1970, people from every walk of life—farmers and ranchers, faith leaders and scientists, health professionals and first responders, students and families, and communities on the front lines of climate disasters—have driven action that prevented countless illnesses and saved millions of lives worldwide.

Economic prosperities and environmental protections are not competing goals. They are on the same path forward. Clean energy and sustainability have already created millions of jobs, lowered costs, and delivered healthier air and water. Governments will delay, corporate interests may distract—but they cannot ignore an organized, determined public.

“All those years ago, in 1970, we were ridiculously confident that we were going to win. We launched a genuine environmental revolution. We proved that an engaged public can be an unstoppable force. It can be again in 2026.”—Denis Hayes, Organizer of the First Earth Day and Board Chair Emeritus, EARTHDAY.ORG.
