PORTLAND, ORE.—The Doubletree Hotel Portland announced the grand opening of Gather Food & Drink. In Portland’s newest dining spot, guests will taste the freshest flavors of the Northwest. Inspired seasonal fare is the focus of the restaurant and bar. Gather is about offering selections that reflect the changing array of food and drink that is produced locally. Chef Steven Ward infuses the freshest ingredients from local farmers and showcases them in seasonal menus. Those culinary delights serve as a complement to the regionally inspired wine, beer and spirits offered in Gather.
“We’re very excited to offer our guests a unique and inviting dining experience where they will truly enjoy distinct regional flavors,” says Steve Faulstick, general manager of the Doubletree Hotel Portland. “Gather is a unique meeting place for those who live and work in the neighborhood, and a natural extension of the sustainable renovations and contemporary influence injected into the property.”
Gather is a dramatic transformation for the hotel. It features a chic new cocktail bar overlooking a combination of bistro tables, cocktail vignettes and soft, comfortable seating accented by a warm and inviting fireplace. The design concept is from Portland-based IDEA (Innovative Designed Environment Associates), who specialize in sustainable spaces for both commercial and residential venues. Like much of the hotel, Gather uses sustainable materials such as fabrics made with 100 percent recycled content and tables made from Pacific Northwest native wood, sourced from a local orchard. Most appropriately, the pillars are paneled with rehabilitated floorboards from the Jim Beam distillery.
