BUFFALO, N.Y.—The Balsams Grand Resort Hotel, a property managed by Delaware North Companies and located in Dixville Notch, N.H., passed its ISO 14001 Registration Audit earlier this month. This is the 19th ISO Registration that Delaware North has successfully navigated.

“This is a great honor for The Balsams and our company as a whole,” says John Huey, director of stewardship, Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts. “We’re fully committed to doing what’s best for our environment and building upon such successes by further developing GreenPath and our positive impacts on the environment.”

The ISO 14001 audit, which is markedly stringent, assesses a company’s ability to conform to a set of environmental standards and, therein, maintain that standard. The standards are driven by compliance with environmental laws and management programs designed to mitigate environmental impacts.

Delaware North Companies established GreenPath more than five years ago in an effort to minimize the company’s impact on the environment. GreenPath is an environmental management system created to incorporate environmental considerations and sustainable practices into all business decisions. These actions range from comprehensive waste reduction to associate and guest awareness initiatives.
