CHICAGO—Cintas Corp. introduced EcoGeneration by Cintas scrubs, an eco-apparel option designed for housekeeping personnel in the hospitality industry. This new apparel line is constructed with REPREVE recycled fibers, which are woven into a wearable, comfortable scrub line.

“In an industry that employs more than 1.9 million workers, transitioning housekeeping staff into environmentally friendly work wear can have a significant impact on a hotel’s environmental program,” said Todd McKeown, Vice President of Hospitality at Cintas. “These scrubs also help promote productivity, because workers stay comfortable throughout the day and are better able to perform their job functions.”

REPREVE, made by Unifi, Inc., is made from 100 percent recycled materials. REPREVE fibers are traceable, transparent and certified through Unifi’s U TRUST verification program.

Confidence in Content Claims

“By choosing products made with REPREVE, Cintas customers can be confident in the claims around recycled content,” added Roger Berrier, Executive Vice President for Unifi. “Repreve provides Cintas with a trusted, sustainable solution for its new EcoGeneration scrub line.”

With the EcoGeneration by Cintas scrub line, housekeeping staff have a comfortable, environmentally preferable apparel alternative to traditional housekeeping uniforms. It features moisture-wicking properties to keep wearers cool and dry, as well as Cintas’ ComfortFLEX mechanical stretch for easy movement. A wear testing program showed 96 percent of workers preferred ComfortFLEX over other polyester/cotton blends. Machine washable and available in petite, tall and women’s sizes, the scrubs are constructed to fit fashionably and comfortably.

“Cintas believes that quality eco-apparel should benefit the environment but not compromise comfort,” added Jamie Overbey, Director of Marketing, Cintas. “This scrub line gives housekeeping workers and other hospitality staff the satisfaction of knowing they’re doing something that benefits the environment with a garment that meets their fit and comfort needs.”
