LAS VEGAS—For the third consecutive year, Caesars Entertainment Corp. is distributing 45,000 energy efficient light bulbs such as Compact Florescent Light Bulbs (CFLs) to low-income residents in the communities they serve across the United States. Energy saving light bulbs are environmentally friendly and reduce energy costs substantially when compared to conventional incandescent light bulbs. Many of these bulbs last 10 times longer and produce 75 percent less heat, reducing home cooling costs.

“We recognize the most incremental changes often make the biggest difference at our resorts and in the communities we serve,” said Gwen Migita, corporate director Sustainability and Community Engagement for Caesars Entertainment. “The 45,000 bulbs will reduce more than 45 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions and save more than $400,000 in energy costs.”

Caesars Entertainment and its CodeGreen initiative are committed to critical issues of energy, waste, water, and carbon emissions at all of its properties and seek to engage Caesars employees in efforts to reduce natural resource use, conserve energy, and promote reuse and recycling. This annual effort is just one of hundreds of responsible green practice programs Caesars implements at its resorts and in the communities where its properties are located.

On or near Earth Day, employees from Caesars resorts distributed bulbs in communities across the country, including: Phoenix; Chester, Pa.; Tunica and Biloxi, Miss.; New Orleans; Metropolis and Joliet, Ill.; Council Bluffs, Iowa; Hammond and Elizabeth, Ind.; St. Louis; Las Vegas, Laughlin, Reno and Lake Tahoe, Nev.; and Rincon (near San Diego), Calif. Some resorts will set up central distribution locations in their communities in addition to sharing them door to door.
