LEXINGTON, KY.—More than 20 employees of the Big Ass Fan Co., ranging from engineers to sales personnel, have passed LEED certification exams. Most recently, 16 members of the sales staff have earned the LEED Green Associate credential.

Each of these Green Associates dedicated an average of 50 hours of study time outside of work toward achieving their certifications, which will enable them to provide additional support to Big Ass Fans’ customers.

“The amount of time and effort spent by our sales staff on passing the Green Associates exam demonstrates the Big Ass Fan Company’s commitment to the green building movement,” said applications engineer Christian Taber, LEED BD+C. “Our goal is to have experts on staff to support our customers in every way that we can.”

Fans Can Earn LEED Points

LEED is a certification system from the U.S. Green Building Council that deals with the environmental performance of buildings based on overall characteristics of the project. Big Ass Fans can be utilized to help meet the requirements of prerequisites and earn points under the LEED rating systems.

Big Ass Fan has an extensive background of assisting customers in their quest for LEED designation on their buildings, and has achieved LEED Gold status at its own Lexington, Ky., research and development facility.

“We’re proud to employ the best and brightest people,” said Big Ass Fan’s president Carey Smith. “This certification demonstrates our employees’ dedication to serving customers, even if it means going above and beyond in their spare time.”
