GREENBELT, MD.—Over the last few months, Baywood Hotels has experienced national disasters that affected its hotels in both Texas and Florida. As Baywood ramped to celebrate the opening of its 100th hotel, it was overshadowed by the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey, Irma and Maria. The focus was turned to lend support to the hotels, employees and local community of distressed areas in their time of need. By partnering with five national organizations, Baywood Hotels contributed $101,000 to various efforts.

Baywood Hotels donated $31,000 to hurricane rebuilding efforts by partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Florida that assists those communities with new housing. “Habitat for Humanity of Florida began assessing the shelter and housing needs in areas impacted by the hurricane and developing response options; not just for Habitat homes but for the surrounding neighborhoods,” said Barbara Beck, President/CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Florida. “Skilled construction staff and volunteers have already performed hundreds of hurricane home repairs in Florida. Our ability to respond depends on funding availability, therefore, this generous contribution from Baywood Hotels will be a great tool in our toolbox alongside all of the other programs to help Florida recover from this disaster.”

Another strategic community partner is Save the Children, to which Baywood Hotels donated $15,000. This provides relief workers with necessary tools and resources to protect boys and girls from harm, sickness and hunger during massive disasters and major crises.

Americares saves lives and improves health for people affected by poverty or disaster so they can reach their full potential. Baywood Hotels donated $15,000 to this organization.

As Puerto Rico continues to recover from Hurricane Maria, Baywood Hotels contributed $15,000 to the Hilton Responds fund, to assist Team Members as they begin the long rebuilding process.

The IHG Foundation offers a helping hand to people around the world, by providing aid when disaster strikes to teaching the skills needed to find work in hospitality. To support the IHG Foundation’s annual membership with the American Red Cross, Baywood hotels gave $25,000 to the IHG Foundation.
