MARIPOSA, CALIF.—AutoCamp announced that AutoCamp Yosemite officially opened its full facilities, including its clubhouse and pool, last month. AutoCamp Yosemite, located a three-hour drive from San Francisco and adjacent to the town of Mariposa, Calif., is the third and largest of the outdoor hospitality properties under the AutoCamp brand. The property features 102 customized Airstream suites, luxury tents, and cabins, as well as a two-story clubhouse, communal fire pits, heated pool, and natural pond.

“AutoCamp’s mission is to connect people with the outdoors and each other, and AutoCamp Yosemite represents a landmark moment for our team, the local community, and for travelers that are looking for new and unique ways to experience the outdoors. We’re immensely proud to be opening our first National Park-adjacent property here in magnificent Yosemite,” said AutoCamp founder and CEO Neil Dipaola. “This beautiful location offers our guests the iconic AutoCamp experience, with incredible amenities such as a year-round heated pool, thoughtfully-designed accommodations, a locally-sourced food and beverage program, and easy access to one of America’s most popular National Parks.”

“We’d like to welcome AutoCamp to the Yosemite Region,” stated Scott Gediman, Public Affairs Officer for Yosemite National Park. “We look forward to working with the AutoCamp team to enhance the visitor experience both here in Yosemite National Park and in the surrounding communities.”

AutoCamp Yosemite ups the ante on its sibling locations with more than triple the suites and tents, a two-story clubhouse, heated pool, and natural pond. AutoCamp Yosemite will offer the brand’s highly-curated amenities such as mountain bikes, organic linens, natural bath and skincare products, custom-designed firepits, complimentary compressed firewood logs to reduce smoke and fire danger, a hammock grove, interactive art installations, s’mores kits, and the recently introduced Pet Kits, which offer a cozy blanket, food and water bowls, treats, and a guide to nearby dog-friendly hikes.

Dinner Prepared Locally

AutoCamp Yosemite will offer guests a gourmet BBQ dinner to cook over the open flames. Starting at $50, the BBQ kit will offer a choice of three proteins, two side dishes, freshly baked bread, and a dessert, all prepared locally. S’mores kits, snacks, beer, wine, and other beverages, as well as apparel, are also available for purchase in the clubhouse. Additionally, the clubhouse hosts a complimentary continental breakfast bar every morning with fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee, tea and pastries from Sugar Pine Café in Mariposa. Coffees and teas are offered complimentary in suites, tents, cabins, and in the clubhouse.

The Airstreams are part of an exclusive design and hospitality relationship between the iconic brand and AutoCamp, and the custom 31-foot Airstreams at all AutoCamp locations have been manufactured to AutoCamp’s specifications by Airstream, Inc. Santa Barbara-based Anacapa led the architectural design  behind the site, clubhouse, custom Airstreams, luxury tents, BaseCamp suites, and Classic Cabin suites. The 4,000 square foot signature clubhouse features guest lounge areas with an indoor fireplace and seating; taps serving craft beer, kombucha, and cold brew coffee; and communal dining table, retail store, and restrooms with luxury showers. A second story features space for meetings or events, with outdoor decks overlooking the swimming pool and pond. Continuity of the structure’s raw material palette and an abundance of floor-to-ceiling sliding glass creates seamlessness between indoors and outdoors. AutoCamp’s modern and fully wheelchair accessible X suites were designed by M-Rad, a Los Angeles-based design team specializing in bespoke design and fabrication. The X suites were manufactured by Plant Prefab in Los Angeles.

“Building on the design language established by AutoCamp, we designed a multi-level, fully conditioned iteration of the clubhouse to cultivate socialization and an immersive experience of the natural environment. A primal material palette of regional pine, concrete, steel, and glass is executed in pure architectural forms with clean, minimal detailing,” said Dan Weber, founder and Principal of Anacapa.

Lauren Geremia of San Francisco-based Geremia Design led the interior design for AutoCamp Yosemite. In approaching this project, she eschewed campy camp tropes, instead taking cues for the material palette from the spectacular environs, mixing sophisticated contemporary lines with rough-hewn materials for a luxurious outdoor experience. A specialty light installation illuminates the marketplace. Large-scale, low-slung seating areas with deep sofas, fire pits, and monumental wood benches are skillfully situated throughout the clubhouse, showcasing striking views of the natural surroundings and encouraging a communal experience that honors the spirit and tradition of camping.

Site-Specific Art Installations

Accommodations are outfitted with blankets and handmade Chilean textiles. Customized concrete moon prints hang prominently in each room, along with historic photography of Yosemite Valley. Each unit features an outdoor fire pit, and bespoke outdoor seating. Geremia and her team appointed the grounds with site-specific art installations, including an infographic art piece by Rosie Li.

“The landscape of AutoCamp Yosemite informed our design choices from the start,” said Lauren Geremia of Geremia Design. “The natural palette and luxurious yet unpretentious design enable visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of Yosemite without distraction. Earthy, raw materials, organic textiles, and site-specific art installations redefine traditional luxury hospitality, and target a new generation of high-end travelers. Elevated amenities, combined with connectivity to the surrounding landscape, makes for a special camping experience.”

AutoCamp Yosemite guests also have convenient access to Yosemite National Park through YARTS (Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System), with a YARTS stop located at the AutoCamp entrance.

AutoCamp Yosemite has joined the Yosemite Conservancy Dollar-A-Night program to support Yosemite Conservancy’s projects and programs that preserve Yosemite National Park and enrich the visitor experience. Guests staying at AutoCamp Yosemite will have the option to donate one dollar per night as part of this program to Yosemite Conservancy.

The 35-acre AutoCamp site is car-free, allowing guests to experience the beauty and serenity of the area without the noise or dust of vehicles. Guest parking is on-property, adjacent to the driveway, and several types of transport are available to move belongings or guests to their rooms.
