HASTINGS, MINN.—The Loyalton Group announced that the Association of Starwood Franchisees & Owners—North America (ASFONA) has chosen The Loyalton Group as an Associate Member, and appointed The Loyalton Group’s director of client services, Scott Kurtz, as an Honorary Board Member. Founded in 1996, The Loyalton Group assists commercial and industrial businesses with identifying and securing deregulated energy sources to include daily invoice and utility expense management, budgeting, facility optimization and sustainability consulting.

“Optimizing energy efficiency and lowering energy usage and associated costs is a priority for the hotel industry today,” stated John Shingler, president of ASFONA. “In speaking with Scott, I realize the importance of having expert consultation on this complex topic. The Loyalton Group has demonstrated their knowledge and expertise through successful program implementations with many hotel properties, and we welcome Scott to the ASFONA group.”

ASFONA’s mandate is to interact with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. in the development of brand policies, standards, technology and all other issues impacting its members’ businesses. The overall objective of ASFONA is to ensure that all ownership groups and specifically those in membership have a solid platform upon which owners and investors can work together with Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ senior management team in building the best and most successful brands in the hotel industry. In this capacity, each Honorary Board Member is invited to join together with the ASFONA Board of Directors and other invited hotel industry participants at strategic meetings held in North America throughout the year.

Associate membership in ASFONA is strictly limited, since membership is offered by invitation only. This exclusivity ensures that membership comprises only highly regarded providers of products or services to the hospitality industry.

“We are extremely honored to be invited into one of the industry’s premier associations, and welcome the opportunity to assist the ASFONA membership in their quest for energy efficiency and resource allocation,” stated Kurtz.
