SANTA MONICA, CALIF.—Santa Monica-based hotel developer, The Ambrose Collection, has won two awards for its latest concept, Hotel Ray. Having pioneered environmentally responsible practices long before “going green” was in fashion, The Ambrose Collection, with these two new honors, has once again proven that sustainability can—and should—seamlessly coexist with luxury.

Winning a Finalist Award at Hospitality Design (HD) magazine’s fourth annual Hospitality Design Awards (HD Awards), and the Los Angeles Architectural Awards’ 2008 Award of Excellence in the Commercial Design Concept category, Hotel Ray serves as a model of sustainability for future development, marrying the luxuries of an upscale hotel property with the highest environmental building plans and practices.

“Our mission is to create luxurious environments that promote sustainable lifestyles for our guests,” says Hank Warner, vice president of development for The Ambrose Collection. “Each of our projects is intended to capture the essence of its surrounding community, and Hotel Ray accomplishes this goal through innovative and creative design work.”

Warner was responsible for teaming Santa Monica-based Belzberg Architects with internationally renowned A&E firm DMJM AECOM to ensure the best in both design and LEED expertise.

“With our flagship hotel, The Ambrose, receiving the nation’s first LEED-EB hotel certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, these two new accolades confirm our place as innovative leaders in the hotel development arena,” Warner added.

While the hospitality industry as a whole is migrating towards more environmentally responsible practices, The Ambrose Collection is one of the few that has been successful at carefully blending form and function to create a luxury environment within an eco-hotel.

“The Ambrose Collection is proud to remain a leader in sustainable hospitality, as more and more consumers embrace hotels that merge a high-quality experience with social consciousness,” commented Deirdre Wallace, president of the Ambrose Collection. “We are honored to accept the Hospitality Design and Los Angeles Architectural Awards, and aim to continue developing projects that will push the industry to set new standards in responsible design.”
