MCLEAN, VA.—Showcasing an enhanced agenda this year, the 18th annual Affordable Meetings National show, Sept. 5-6 at the Washington Convention Center, will offer meeting and event planners two general sessions, 28 educational seminars—11 new to the line-up including sessions on green meetings and new industry technologies—two networking luncheons and a welcome reception, all designed to present attendees with the skills and techniques that are essential in the industry.

With a variety of educational opportunities, meeting planners at all levels of experience can choose from 28 workshops and seminars that will focus on “need to know” industry topics. This free comprehensive educational series will offer attendees the opportunity to acquire expert insight, new ideas and inspirational advice, each designed to help planners produce more successful, cost-effective meetings.

“The three-show Affordable Meeting series aims to provide meeting and event planners with a variety of knowledge and skills,” says Robert A. Gilbert, president and CEO of HSMAI. “Every year, we add new sessions and seminars to keep participants up to date on the latest industry trends and provide them with the necessary tools to succeed.”

New to the line-up this year, the national show will feature two general sessions—one per day—from industry experts, including: ImaginACTION!; Tom Deluca, a speaker, well-known hypnotist, entertainer, and president, DeLuca Enterprises; The Future of the Meetings Industry: Impact and Actions; Joan Eisenstodt, chief strategist, Eisenstodt Associates; and Marsha L. Rhea, senior futurist, Institute for Alternative Futures.

Offering a diverse cross-section of topics, attendees may choose from a variety of seminars depending on their career stage and interest. The well-rounded line-up of educational sessions that will be featured includes 11 new seminars and 17 returning sessions. New for this year is a session entitled, “A Meeting Planners Toolkit for Planning & Managing Green Meetings,” Beverly Oviedo, founder, Sustainable Solutions By Design.
