When guests stay at one of Humanitarian Hotels’ three hotels—the Saint John’s Resort, The Inn at Stonecliffe, and Hilton Garden Inn, Laramie—100 percent of net profits go to charity. The properties are owned by the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation, launched by Bill Pulte, founder of Pulte Homes.
“Guided by the belief in the inherent dignity of all persons, we work to meet the basic human needs of the most marginalized members of the human family,” the company says.
Here is a list of just some of the good things Humanitarian Hotels is doing:
Employing adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In 2024, Saint John’s Resort was honored with Gesher Human Service’s “Employer of the Year” award—a recognition of what happens when dignity meets opportunity, and inclusion becomes a foundation rather than an afterthought.
The Impact of Donated Food
Through its partnership with Food Rescue Detroit, Saint John’s Resort donates excess restaurant and banquet food to local nonprofit organizations serving the most vulnerable in its community: soup kitchens, senior centers, after-school programs, and more. Since launching this initiative in 2022, the resort has donated over 14,000 pounds of food, providing more than 28,000 nourishing meals to those who need them most.
In Detroit, Humanitarian Hotels funded construction of a new 60,000-square-foot Bridge Housing Campus that offers shelter, medical care, job training, and mental health support—helping residents transition to independence. In 2024, the company contributed $4,255,729 to nonprofit organizations dedicated to shelter and safety.
Through a prison education program with the Moreau College Initiative, incarcerated men earn accredited college degrees. To date, more than 165 degrees have been awarded, transforming lives through knowledge and hope.
In Support of Veterans
In 2024, Hilton Garden Inn Laramie, located on the campus of the University of Wyoming, launched a Wellness Stays program in partnership with the University’s Veterans Services Center. Through this initiative, student veterans and their families are offered a safe, supportive space to rest, regroup, and regain their strength during critical times.
Unique to Humanitarian Hotels is its effort to involve guests and outside companies. Through its partnership with Meals of Hope and The Hope Clinic, Saint John’s Resort offers on-site volunteer activities for those looking to give back. Volunteers can select from a curated menu of service projects designed to strengthen teams while directly impacting the community—from assembling care packages to supporting local food initiatives.
