SINGAPORE—The award-winning publication Condé Nast Traveler has named Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts as a winner of the prestigious 2010 World Savers Awards. Honoring the airlines, cruise lines, resorts, hotel chains and tour operators that are dedicated to saving their communities and the world, Condé Nast Traveler selected Banyan Tree as the overall winner among large hotel chains in the ‘Doing It All’ category.

Additionally, the brand was also named runner up in the category of “Health Initiatives” and received honorable mention in the following categories: “Environmental/Cultural Preservation,” “Wildlife Conservation” and “Education Initiatives.” Among large hotel chains, Banyan Tree was recognized as a winner, runner up and honorable mention more often than any other hotel brand.

“We are incredibly honored and humbled to receive this recognition from Condé Nast Traveler,” said Mr. Ho Kwon Ping, executive chairman and founder of Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts. “For the Banyan Tree brand, it is pride in our heritage and a larger concern for the environment that spurs us to focus so intently on corporate social responsibility. Business no longer means realizing transactions; businesses must be an agency in transforming society and bringing about meaningful change. With this award, we hope to inspire other companies around the world to take initiative to support and rebuild the environments and communities in which they live.”

Triple Bottom Line Emphasized

A dedication to corporate social responsibility has been embedded in Banyan Tree’s core values since its founding, allowing the company to be an agent of social and economic development in destinations where it has a presence. The company defines its overall success as a combination of the triple bottom line of economy, society and environment, which helps direct their sustainable development by inspiring associates, guests and partners to take a wider consideration encompassing a long-term view when making business and travel decisions.

Banyan Tree is a leading manager and developer of premium resorts, hotels and spas around the world and manages and/or has ownership interests in 28 resorts and hotels, more than 60 spas, in excess of 70 retail galleries and three golf courses. They have recently made their foray into the American market with Banyan Tree Mayakoba, located along Mexico’s beautiful Riviera Maya, and Banyan Tree Cabo Marqués in Acapulco.

World Savers Awards winners will be recognized at the annual Condé Nast Traveler World Savers Congress on October 20, 2010, in Singapore. Click here for more information.
