PARSIPPANY, N.J.—Wyndham Worldwide announced that RobecoSAM, an investment asset management firm, has recognized the company as a 2014 Silver Class Sustainability Leader in its annual Sustainability Yearbook. This is the first time the company has been included in the Sustainability Yearbook and received the Silver Class rating.

The Sustainability Yearbook lists the world’s most sustainable companies in each industry. This year, in addition to being within the top 15 percent of their industry, companies needed to achieve a score within 30 percent of the best-performing company in their industry to be included. Wyndham Worldwide is the only company in the United States recognized with SAM’s Silver Class sustainability rating in the Hotels, Resorts & Cruise Lines. Companies receiving a score within a range of 1 percent to 5 percent of the Sector Leader receive the SAM Silver Class distinction.

“We are honored to be recognized by RobecoSAM as this is an incredible accomplishment and true honor,” said Mary Falvey, executive vice president and chief human resources officer, Wyndham Worldwide. “This latest recognition affirms our commitment to earning the trust of our key stakeholders every day through exceptional environmental practices. Our sustainability program continues to be successful because of the innovative collaboration among our associates, franchisees, suppliers, business and community partners who have helped create and grow our shared vision.”

Doing Well by Doing Good

Believing that you can do well by doing good, Wyndham Worldwide’s corporate social responsibility program integrates sustainability, diversity, philanthropy, human rights, and responsible corporate governance and business practices into its culture and how its businesses operate around the world since its introduction on the NYSE in 2006.

The company’s sustainability practices are created and driven by the company’s Wyndham Green program, which works to deliver “triple bottom line” results for its people, the planet and profits.

“Wyndham Green aims to drive leadership in the industry, encourage engagement among the company’s key stakeholders and provide the vehicles to turn innovative ideas into achievable results,” said Faith Taylor, senior vice president of sustainability and innovation. “This focus enabled the company to reduce its operationally controlled asset water usage globally by 5 percent per square foot, reduce its carbon emissions by nearly 12 percent per square foot in 2012, and increase its sustainable suppliers by 9 percent over 2011.”

In addition to the Sustainability Yearbook, Wyndham Worldwide was also named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North American Index for the first time in 2013, for which the RobecoSAM Group has responsibility for evaluation and admission. The S&P Dow Jones Indices are one of the most recognized sustainability performance rating tools, with the Sustainability Index identifying leaders in the areas of sustainable economic, environmental and social performance. Most recently, Wyndham Worldwide was recognized with the 2014 Global Sustainability Leadership Award for its outstanding corporate sustainability performance. The company was selected from more than 2,500 global entries. An Independent Jury shortlisted the entries and made the final selection.
