PCG Helps Broadmoor Hotel Reduce Lighting Costs by 80 Percent

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.—Norman, Okla.-based energy service provider PCG, LLC recently installed more than 30,000 energy-efficient lamps at the historic Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. In the hotel facilities, the replacement of incandescent exterior and interior lighting with cold cathode lamps and LEDs resulted in up to 80 percent energy savings. “We weren’t planning this,” says Stephen Bartolin, Jr., president and CEO of The Broadmoor. “This was unplanned capital. Virginia Hampton Inn Chooses Lodging Technology’s GEM System

ROANOKE, VA.—The Hampton Inn-Old Town/King Street in Alexandria, Va., has installed Lodging Technology’s GEM System Energy Management and Guest-In-Room Detector in all 80 guestrooms, including five one-bedroom suites. GEM System, an infrared sensor-based guestroom energy management system, reduces room energy costs 35 percent to 45 percent by maintaining “management-preferred” temperatures in rooms while guests are out. Thayer to Double PURE Allergy Friendly Rooms in All 14 Hotels

ANNAPOLIS, MD.—Thayer Lodging Group, an Annapolis, Maryland-based private equity real estate investment firm with a portfolio of 14 hotels, announced they will double their inventory of PURE Allergy Friendly rooms from 280 to 560 this year. Thayer has Pure Allergy Rooms in each of its hotels. Based on Thayer’s 2008 financial report, the group reported 171 percent cash on cash return for the PURE room investment. “These are remarkable figures, especially during tough economic times,” says Frederic V.
