DENVER—Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and Vail Resorts are working together to help injured veterans in their recoveries. Vail Resorts just delivered on a year-long promise to help fuel WWP’s mission to honor and empower wounded warriors.
Last year, Vail Resorts announced plans to support WWP in the form of a $1 donation for every season pass sold during the 2018 to 2019 season in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Epic Pass. The company surpassed the original target of $750,000 by donating more than $900,000.
“Vail Resorts’ pioneering spirit and our core value of serving others can be traced back to our founders who served in the U.S. Army’s famed 10th Mountain Division during World War II,” said Kirsten Lynch, Chief Marketing Officer at Vail Resorts. “As we celebrate an important milestone in our history, we are proud to be able to honor our founder’s legacy by supporting veterans and Wounded Warrior Project.”
A Transformative Organization
WWP is transforming the way America’s injured veterans are empowered, employed, and engaged in communities. Through life-changing programs and services, WWP helps encourage warriors to get out of isolation and connect with their communities.

The two organizations partnered on warrior events this winter season. By bringing warriors together through ski and snowboard events at Vail Resorts locations and other ski resorts, WWP can create new connections and help identify the support network needed to overcome challenges warriors may face. In a WWP survey of the wounded warriors it serves, more than half of survey respondents (52.6 percent) expressed they talk with fellow veterans to address their mental health concerns.
